EASTERN MUSIC FESTIVAL
June 24 – July 29, 2017 • Proximity Hotel is delighted to be an Official Hotel of the Eastern Music Festival in Greensboro. Each summer, for five glorious weeks, the area is transformed for music enthusiasts of all ages whose tastes range from classical to jazz to bluegrass to rock and everything in between. Concerts and events happen daily.
The internationally recognized Eastern Music Festival will produce over 100 events – everything from Grammy-winning classical soloists with symphony orchestra (three resident orchestras to choose from) – to two chamber series, and including the EMF fringe series.

Thursday Cocktails and Jazz
For 15 years, we’ve dreamed of creating a cocktail and jazz vibe such as was all the rage in some New York hotels in the ‘50s. Every Thursday you can enjoy vintage craft cocktails and delightful Mediterranean tapas (see the menu) garnished with live American jazz standards from 5:30 – 8:30 PM.
Artists Dave Fox (piano), Neill Clegg (saxophone, clarinet and flute) and NOW…Matt Kendrick (double bass) will be joined by guest vocalists, who cover The Great American Songbook and jazz classics including swing…and modern classics from the late ‘50s to early ‘60s, as well as Brazilian jazz from the early ‘60s.
Select Saturday O.Henry Jazz Series
Cocktails and Jazz at the O.Henry is so much fun that we asked the amazing Victoria and Neill Clegg to curate an expansion of the O.Henry Jazz scene. On select Saturdays you can enjoy vintage craft cocktails and delightful seasonal tapas (see the menu) along with an eclectic array of jazz artists performing in the varied styles of contemporary jazz. Select Saturdays from 6:30-9:30 PM.
This is NOT the same experience as Thursday Night Cocktails & Jazz with Neill Clegg and Dave Fox. You can still enjoy their talents — along with those of a rotating roster of extraordinary Jazz vocalists — as they focus on the great American Songbook and beyond, Thursday nights from 5:30 – 8:30 PM.
Levitt AMP Music Series

The Levitt AMP Greensboro Music Series will return for the second year, attracting residents to the once underused yet expansive Jimmie I. Barber Park in East Greensboro, and bringing the city’s diverse populations together to enjoy a broad range of musical styles.
The Levitt AMP Grant Awards were created in 2014 by the Levitt Foundation, a pioneer in the creative placemaking movement. Levitt AMP brings the joy of free, live music to people of all ages and backgrounds living in small to mid-sized towns and cities, transforming underused public spaces into thriving community destinations. TRIAD STAGE
A professional, not-for-profit regional theatre, named “one of the best regional theatres in America” by New York’s Drama League, featuring the best and timeliest of classic, contemporary and new theatrical works. Drama and comedy are presented in a 300-seat live performance theatre in Greensboro’s downtown historic district.
CAROLINA THEATRE
First opened in 1927, this restored vaudeville theater serves as one of Greensboro’s principle performing arts centers, showcasing theater, dance, concerts and films. The theater is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and located downtown.
COMMUNITY THEATRE OF GREENSBORO
Celebrating 50 years of presenting Broadway plays and musicals, the Community Theatre offers exciting theatrical seasons filled with smash musicals, hilarious comedies and classic dramas. The classic “The Wizard of Oz” has become a fall tradition.
